Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Nigerian international winger Ademola Lookman from Serie A side Atalanta in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Gunners have identified the Super Eagles star as a key attacking target as they look to strengthen their frontline ahead of the 2025/26 season.

“Arsenal have added Ademola Lookman to their shortlist for the summer,” Florian Plettenberg stated on his X handle.

“More teams are keen on him. The plan has not changed: Lookman is planning to take the next step this summer. Premier League is possible. The 27-year-old versatile forward is under contract with Atalanta Bergamo until 2027 and has recorded 20 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season.”

According to Transfermarkt, Lookman is currently valued at €60 million, a price the Gunners can afford to strengthen their attack. Lookman’s profile as a versatile and pacy winger fits the bill for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Nigerian international has enjoyed a stellar season with Atalanta, registering an impressive 18 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this season, according to BusinessDay.

Lookman made headlines in the 2023/24 Europa League final, where he scored a sensational hat-trick to secure the trophy for Atalanta against Bayer Leverkusen, becoming the first player ever to score three goals in the final of the competition.

Despite being under contract with Atalanta until 2027, the 27-year-old is reportedly open to a move away from Bergamo for the right opportunity.

Lookman’s pace, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing qualities would make him an ideal fit for Arsenal’s dynamic style of play.
