Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly set to reject a staggering €50 million annual salary from Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, as he remains focused on securing a move to the English Premier League, with Manchester United his preferred club.
According to Turkish transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Al-Hilal recently submitted a renewed offer worth €50m per season to Osimhen’s camp, a significant increase from earlier proposals of €30m and €40m, both of which were already turned down by the Nigerian star.
Despite Al-Hilal’s willingness to activate Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, the 26-year-old is determined to stay in Europe and sees a move to Old Trafford as a top priority. Manchester United, who are actively in the market for a new striker, are believed to have the former Lille star high on their wishlist.
Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a prolific campaign with 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances. However, a permanent deal with the Turkish champions appears unlikely due to financial constraints.
Manchester United’s pursuit of Osimhen may depend on their ability to raise funds, especially after splashing £62.5m to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Reports suggest that selling Rasmus Hojlund, currently linked with Inter Milan, could free up resources for a potential swoop.
Still under contract with Napoli for another year, Osimhen is set to depart the Serie A side this summer after scoring 76 goals and providing 18 assists in 133 appearances since joining in 2020. He is currently back in Nigeria on holiday, but a decision on his future is expected soon.
