A fire incident erupted on Monday morning in a section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building in Abuja.
Eyewitness footage circulating on social media, captured around 8:00 a.m., shows thick plumes of dark smoke rising from an upper floor of the multi-storey structure.
The video shows dense black smoke billowing, with the fire appearing concentrated in one wing of the building.
The incident reportedly occurred at Section C of the building within the Federal Secretariat complex.
Staff members were seen moving away from the area as emergency responders were alerted to contain the situation.

When contacted, the Media Department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the incident, saying the fire outbreak was limited to Section C of the building and that emergency officials were already responding.
“Yes, we received the call of fire outbreak at the Head of the Civil Service building in Abuja this morning and we immediately deployed our personnel. They are currently working there,” a fire service representative told our correspondent via telephone.
The exact cause of the fire had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report, while investigations are expected to begin after the situation is brought fully under control.
Authorities said further details would be provided as more information becomes available.
This latest fire adds to a troubling pattern of blazes at key federal buildings in Abuja.
