Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled attempted terrorist attacks on Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Lt. Col. Sani Uba.

According to the statement, the attacks occurred in the early hours of Friday when terrorists advanced in large numbers towards troops’ positions at Azir Bridge in Sector 2 and Banki in Sector 1.

“The terrorists, who advanced in large numbers in a desperate attempt to overrun the locations, were met with swift and overwhelming resistance from vigilant troops,” the statement read.

It added that the troops launched coordinated attacks which disrupted the terrorists’ assault formations and forced them into disarray.

The operation was further supported by air strikes from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which played a significant role in repelling the attackers.

“The engagements were further reinforced by effective close air support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which contributed significantly to the successful defeat of the attackers,” the statement added.

The military also dismissed reports circulating on some online platforms suggesting that the terrorists had taken control of the locations, describing such claims as misleading propaganda.

“These failed attacks clearly contradict the misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online media platforms,” the statement said, adding that troops remain firmly in control of the affected areas.

Operation Hadin Kai reassured the public that troops of the Joint Task Force remain committed to defeating terrorist threats in the North-East and restoring peace to the region.
