Court remands tenant for allegedly defiling landlord’s seven-year-old daughter

The police said the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child’s Rights Law, 2006.

An Iyaganku Family Court, sitting in Ibadan on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, remanded a tenant, Kareem Mojeed in Agodi Correctional facility, for allegedly defiling his landlord’s seven-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, who did not take Mr Mojeed’s plea ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) for advice.

Mrs Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until October 14, 2024, for the advisory from the DPP office.

The prosecutor, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, had earlier informed the court that Mr Mojeed committed the offence on July 21, 2024, at 5.00 pm in Ebedi area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to Adedeji, Mr Mojeed lured the seven-year-old girl into his room and defiled her.

The police said the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child’s Rights Law, 2006.
