Bilateral relations: Shettima arrives in Sweden for two-day working visit 

The vice president, during the working visit, will engage in high-level bilateral talks with key government officials.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, for a two-day working visit aimed at boosting trade and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden.

The Vice-President’s aircraft touched down at the Arlanda International Airport Stockholm, at about 9:53 pm (Nigerian time) on Wednesday.

On the entourage of the vice president were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, and some heads of federal government agencies and parastatals.

On arrival, Mr Shettima was received by the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani; Charge d’affaires, Nigerian Embassy, Sweden, Aliyu Mahmud; among others.

The spokesperson of the vice president, Mr Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement, said that Mr Shettima would, during the working visit, engage in high-level bilateral talks with key government officials.

According to him, the vice president will meet with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the Swedish Prime Minister.

Similarly, Mr Nkwocha said Mr Shettima would use the visit to explore opportunities for strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden.

This, he said, would be in areas such as Information Communication Technology (ICT), innovation, education, digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.

The spokesperson added that Mr Shettima was also expected to articulate Nigeria’s economic vision and the reforms being undertaken by the president Tinubu administration to create a business-friendly environment in Nigeria for investors.

“Targeted areas of strengthened collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden that will be pursued by the Vice President include ICT, digitalisation, education, sustainable transport, agriculture and mining,” Mr Nkwocha said.
