The Katsina State Police Command has reported the successful killing of a suspected bandit in Ketare Ward, Kankara Local Government Area (LGA).

ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed in a statement on Tuesday that one AK-47 rifle was also recovered during the operation.

The incident took place on Tuesday in Bulunkuza village, Tudun Wada Ward, Kankara LGA. “Information was received at the Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters that bandits, in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked Gidan Dan Ali village in Kankara LGA,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.

“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Kankara Divisional Headquarters, CSP Iliyasu Ibrahim, mobilised a team of police operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and vigilance group members to the scene.”

The team successfully tracked the assailants to Bulunkuza village, where they engaged in a fierce gun battle, forcing the criminals to abandon their plans and flee. “During the course of scanning the scene, the body of one neutralized suspected bandit and one AK-47 rifle were recovered,” Sadiq-Aliyu added.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, commended the operatives for their exceptional display of gallantry and professionalism.
