Army hands over 75 “rehabilitated” terrorists to Borno State government 

The military high command says it has handed over no fewer than 75 rehabilitated terrorists to the Borno State government and killed a score of marauding terrorists who have failed to lay down their arms.

According to Daily Trust, it also revealed that troops apprehended two suspected terrorists that have been on the watch list and one gunrunner identified as Shehu Bagiwaye in Gudu and Gusau LGAs of Sokoto and Zamfara states respectively. 

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Markus Kangye, a Major-General, said troops attached to the operation in the Northeast rescued victims comprising seven adult males, 34 adult females and 34 children. 

“The week also witnessed the handover of rehabilitated terrorists to the Borno State government,” the senior military officer told journalists during the briefing that was held at Defence Headquarters, Abuja. 

He added that between 10-20 March 2025, troops attached to Operation Delta Safe arrested 23 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth ₦461,783,868.00. 

According to him, within the week under review, the troops recovered 247,629 litres of stolen crude oil and 198,374 litres of illegally refined AGO. 

He added, “Troops also discovered and destroyed 36 crude oil cooking ovens, 42 dugout pits, 28 boats, 33 storage tanks, 65 drums and 21 illegal refining sites. 

“Other items recovered include pumping machines, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones and some vehicles amongst others. 

“The weapons recovered within the period include; AK47 rifles, locally fabricated guns, Dane guns, pump action, locally fabricated pistols and RPG tubes amongst others. 

“The ammunitions recovered include; various kinds of 7,62mm ammo as well as RPG bombs.”
