Ghanaians can now travel to Morocco without the need for a traditional visa, following a recent agreement between the two countries. The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who highlighted this significant development along with other key agreements established during his working visit to Morocco.

In a post on X, Minister Ablakwa detailed several initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation between Ghana and Morocco. Notably, the number of scholarships available for Ghanaian students to study in Morocco has been doubled from 70 to 140 each year.

Additionally, the agreement includes a food security cooperation initiative, which begins with a generous donation of 2,000 tonnes of fertilisers to support Ghanaian farmers, alongside technical assistance for the construction of a modern fertiliser manufacturing plant in Ghana.

The collaboration also extends to training opportunities, as Ghanaian youth will be trained as pilots at Morocco’s prestigious pilot training academy. This initiative aligns with former President Mahama’s plans to revive Ghana Airways. Furthermore, an educational exchange programme will facilitate Moroccan youth pursuing courses at Ghana’s Maritime University and other institutions.

Looking ahead, a grand business forum is set to take place in October 2025 in Morocco, providing a platform for Ghanaian companies to collaborate with their Moroccan counterparts. The agreements also identify priority projects in areas such as sea port expansion, railway development, textile production, and pharmaceuticals, signaling a robust partnership between the two nations.
