Peter Okoye, known as Mr. P, has spoken out about the ongoing rift with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, accusing him of damaging the legacy of their music group, P-Square.

The P-Square duo, who first went their separate ways in 2017 due to a disagreement involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, briefly reunited in 2021, much to the joy of their fans.

However, the reunion was short-lived, with Paul recently confirming that the group had split again, alleging that Peter was behind his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In an Instagram post on Monday, Peter expressed his disappointment in Paul’s actions, questioning why his brother was trying to “discredit all my efforts” within P-Square.

Peter also accused Paul of consistently aligning with their elder brother, Jude, who he accused of consistently been trying to “oppress” him.

“My dear brother Paul, just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes,” Peter wrote.

He disputed Paul’s assertions that he was P-Square’s main songwriter and vocalist, pointing out that their success was the product of their teamwork. “In your recent interviews, you discredited me by claiming that our song ‘Ejeajo,’ which I composed with TI, was a failure and that you wrote and sung 99% of all P-Square songs. You even went so far as to further malign me on YouTube with the views.

He also bemoaned Paul’s persistent attempts to discredit his accomplishments, calling P-Square—once the most celebrated and honoured musical group in Africa—a “laughing stock.”

“One thing you need to understand clearly is that the fans didn’t fall in love with P-Square because of who sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort – us two! P-Square was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-Square because of our uniqueness and unity,” he added.

“Now, it feels like you have taken it even further by trying so hard to turn the fans against me by making them believe I’m jealous of you. You have been doing everything for the fans to hate me, but guess what? They will never hate me; instead, they will hate us both because we have disappointed and failed them.”
