Nigeria has been ranked 24th out of 153 countries in the International Boxing Association (IBA) 2026 world rankings.
The ranking places Nigeria with a total of 12,150 points, ahead of countries such as France and the United States, which both share the 25th position with 11,500 points each.
At the top of the table, Uzbekistan leads the global standings with 48,700 points, followed by Russia with 40,850 points and Kazakhstan with 38,300 points.
The Democratic Republic of Congo occupies fourth place with 36,825 points, while Australia completes the top five with 33,725 points.
Other notable rankings include Morocco in sixth position with 29,600 points and China in ninth with 19,100 points.
The IBA ranking system, which is based on a two-year rolling points structure, allocates points based on performance across major competitions such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, Continental Championships, and World Boxing Tour events.
According to the IBA system, “IBA World Ranking points for each Boxer are accumulated over a two (2) year ‘rolling’ period,” with points awarded depending on competition level and final position.
Nigeria’s position reflects its performance in sanctioned elite boxing events during the ranking period, which covers competitions such as continental and international tournaments.
The rankings are updated after each competition cycle, with athletes earning points based on placement, while older results are gradually reduced in value under the federation’s scoring system.
