Spanish police have arrested Valencia striker Rafa Mir on suspicion of sexual assault, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Spain’s Civil Guard police force stated that the 27-year-old footballer was taken into custody but provided no further details.
According to reports from Cadena Ser and other Spanish media, Mir was arrested on Monday night after two women accused him and another man of sexual assault.
The alleged incident reportedly took place at Mir’s residence.
In response, Valencia issued a statement acknowledging the arrest.
“The club is aware of this arrest and, in the absence of details about it, can only state that it will collaborate fully with the authorities,” the statement read.
Mir, who joined Valencia on loan from Sevilla in July, originally signed a six-year contract with Sevilla in 2021.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the case develops.
