Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has urged highly religious women in Nigeria to embrace In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and openly include it in their testimonies.
In a message shared on her Instagram page, Mrs Njoku addressed the stigma surrounding IVF while emphasising that the procedure is a divine tool provided by God to help families overcome fertility challenges.
“For those unfamiliar, IVF is the process of fertilizing a woman’s egg with a man’s sperm in a laboratory dish, offering a path to parenthood for those struggling with infertility,” Mrs Njoku explained.
She stressed that there is nothing wrong with seeking medical assistance as God has given humans – doctors and scientists – the wisdom to find solutions to life’s challenges.
Mrs Njoku encouraged women to also share their IVF journeys without fear or shame.
She highlighted that their stories could inspire and bless other families facing similar struggles.
“Feel free to include IVF in your testimonies, so that God can use your story to inspire and bless other families as well,” she shared.
The actress also reminded her followers that sharing testimonies is not mandatory and cautioned against sharing incomplete stories.
“Testimony is not mandatory! If you can’t tell the complete story, then rest. Don’t make God angry,” Mrs Njoku added.
She further urged for transparency and honesty in sharing personal journeys.
Mrs Njoku’s message comes amid misinformation and stigma around IVF. It encourages a more open dialogue about fertility treatments within religious communities in Nigeria.
