The government of Anambra State has vowed to crack down on the producers of fake drinks in the state.

Celestine Anere, the Managing Director of Operations for Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) said Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led government aims to eradicate fake drinks across markets in the state.

Mr Anere assured residents that individuals involved in producing fake drinks would face arrest and prosecution.

He said seven suspects have already been arrested during a recent raid on fake manufacturing facilities in Nkpor, Idemili North LGA, and Onitsha, where hundreds of fake wines and other drinks were discovered.

Mr Anere disclosed that the state government, in collaboration with the Federal Government’s Presidential Task Force against economic sabotage and oil vandalism, would stop at nothing to ensure justice is served.

He revealed that some individuals involved in the fake beverages trade confessed to supplying over 1,000 cartons of fake products weekly, highlighting the severity of the issue.

Mr Anere further said that the government would pursue cases to a logical conclusion, taking action to prevent further harm and ensure good governance.
