Popular Nigerian dancer and socialite Iweh Odinaka, professionally known as Poco Lee, is currently held on remand in a United Kingdom prison following an alleged assault offence.
According to Benjamin Kuti, founder of the UK Nigerian community organisation Oluomo of Derby, the entertainer is scheduled to face a plea hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on 15 September 2026. Unconfirmed reports regarding his detention first surfaced on social media on 19 August.
Kuti, who frequently assists Nigerians navigating the British judicial system, confirmed his involvement directly in a conversation with reporters from Punch Newspapers. He verified the entertainer’s custody status and noted that Poco Lee will be required to formally enter a plea of guilty or not guilty during the September session.
Stressing the importance of due process, Kuti stated that he intends to observe the hearing in person to provide diaspora support. Emphasising that all individuals remain innocent until proven guilty, he called for patience as the legal proceedings move forward.
