The president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has praised Nigerian football stars Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie, alongside the Super Falcons, for their remarkable achievements at the 2024 Confederation of African Football Awards.
The PUNCH reports that Akpabio congratulated Lookman, the Atalanta of Italy forward and Super Eagles striker, for winning the prestigious CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award.
“I wish to congratulate one of our finest footballers and an international superstar, Ademola Lookman, on his well-deserved win as the CAF Men’s Player of the Year. This prestigious award is a testament to Lookman’s hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills on the football pitch,” Akpabio said.
The Senate President also celebrated Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Super Falcons goalkeeper, for being named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive year.
“I would also like to celebrate our amiable and talented Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has once again proven her worth with this award. Her outstanding performance is an inspiration to young Nigerian girls who aspire to excel in sports,” he said.
Akpabio stated this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, on Tuesday.
Also, the report found that about 90 per cent of the victims of phone thefts reported to the police, and only 50 per cent of the victims expressed satisfaction with police responses. “Nationwide, an estimated 1.4 million experienced sexual offences, which occurred mostly in someone else’s home (27.7%), followed by the victim’s home (22.2%).
