Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has distributed ₦135 million to 1,125 All Progressives Congress (APC) ward delegates from the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
While distributing the money in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, Idris assured the delegates that his government would sustain the empowerment of the delegates.
“We have fulfilled 70 per cent of the campaign promises made to the people during our electioneering campaign.
“We thank the delegates for their support to us throughout the processes of the 2023 general elections.
“We have transformed Birnin Kebbi to a dignified and glorified capital befitting a state in modern time,” he said.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to the promotion of workers and peoples’ welfare as well as infrastructural development in the state.
“We have invested hugely in education, especially payment of school fees and tuition fees, renovation of schools, provision of instructional materials, furniture and deserving feeding to our pupils and students in our schools, among others,” he said.
Idris thanked members of the state executive council, members of state assembly, APC elders and party officials.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Kana-Zuru, said that the meeting was sequel to the request by the governor to meet the delegates and thank them for the honour done to him during the 2023 general elections.
Kana-Zuru also informed them that the governor expressed his confidence in them and assured him that they would remain the party’s delegates up till 2027.
“Some of the delegates have been appointed by the governor, which the current Secretary to State Government (SSG), Alhaja Yakubu Bala-Tafida, is part of.
“We thank you, the delegates, for your efforts and unflinching support throughout the 2023 electioneering campaign and election processes,” he said.
The APC chairman, while announcing the governor’s ₦135 million gift to the delegates, said that each of them would get ₦120,000.
Speaking on behalf of the delegates, Malam Muhammad Dan-Sadi, thanked the governor for the meeting and the assurance of retaining them till the 2027 electioneering processes.
“The governor remains our political pillar, rescuer and savior; we will not disappoint you; we assure you that you remain our undisputable leader of the party in the state,” he said.
On his part, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Usman-Zuru, urged the delegates to sustain their support and pray for the success of the governor in his quest to take the state to greater heights.
Also speaking, a former governor of the state, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari, commended the governor for justifying the confidence reposed in him and fulfilling his campaign promises within two years of his leadership.
“We are closely following and monitoring the campaign promises made and all shall be fulfilled by the governor before he leaves office in the state.
“We are also determined to bring more defectors from other opposition parties in the state,” Dakingari, who was the Director-General of the 2023 APC Campaign Mobilisation, said.
