Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State and senator for Ogun West, has paid tribute to veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, following his death after a prolonged illness.
In a joint statement posted on Facebook on Monday alongside his wife, Temitope Adeola, also called Yayi, the politician revealed that his family had provided financial and medical support throughout the actor’s treatment, striving to give him every possible chance of recovery.
Adeola praised Ogogo, a proud native of Ilaro and Ogun West, as a “dear brother” whose decades-long artistic legacy helped shape the growth of the Nigerian film industry. He noted that while the actor’s passing brought deep personal sorrow despite their prayers, the family surrendered to divine will, adding: “His talent, humility and enduring body of work will ensure that his memory lives on.”
While offering his condolences to Ogogo’s wife, children, colleagues, and the broader Yewaland community, Adeola prayed for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and his admission into Al-Jannah Firdaus. The actor’s daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, had previously publicly acknowledged the senator’s support during their father’s health struggles.
