Footage of the emotional moment when Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde, widely known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, broke down on stage has spread rapidly across social media platforms.
The veteran musician was performing live at the Mushin 30th Anniversary Celebration when he received news of the passing of Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo. Visibly shaken, KWAM 1 was supported by an associate on stage as he mourned the loss.
Fellow Fuji star Malaika was also visibly distressed whilst paying tribute to the late icon.
“His death really hit hard. I’m in pain,” Malaika said.
The sudden loss of the Yoruba cinema giant, following a battle with stage-four cancer, has prompted a widespread outpouring of tributes from politicians, fans, and fellow celebrities across Nigeria. The tragedy comes just days after his daughters issued a public plea for medical assistance.
