After the unveiling of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday, the North-Central APC Forum has thrown its full weight behind the newly appointed team, expressing total confidence in their ability to deliver victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Under the structure announced over the weekend, President Tinubu chairs the council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as Vice-Chairmen I and II. Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, takes the helm as Director-General, alongside Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, the regional forum commended the President’s selection of Yari, alongside key North-Central appointees James Faleke (Deputy Director-General, Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring) and Okpokwu Ogenyi (North-Central Coordinator). The group described Yari as a respected figure with a proven track record, widely embraced by traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, youths, and women across the northern regions.
The forum noted that the appointment was no surprise, given Yari’s ongoing efforts to rally support for the administration. As the founder of the Renewed Hope Network, the Zamfara West senator has been actively showcasing the President’s achievements. Yari brings extensive political experience to the role, having served as a member of the House of Representatives, a two-term governor of Zamfara State, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and a founding member of the APC.
The group also endorsed the selection of Faleke, who previously served as Secretary of the 2023 campaign council and led the purchase of Tinubu’s nomination forms, and Ogenyi, who worked alongside Yari on the Renewed Hope Network’s technical committee.
The North-Central APC Forum reaffirmed its commitment to securing a second term for the President and called on party stakeholders to rally behind the leadership team, pledging to work closely with Ogenyi to deliver six million votes across the region in 2027.
