African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has claimed that members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) greeted his introduction with enthusiasm during Sunday’s National Thanksgiving Service at the church’s headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Recounting his visit in posts published on his X account on Sunday, 4 October 2026, Sowore stated that he attended the service following an invitation alongside AAC National Chairman Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe.

Sowore disclosed that he subsequently held a private meeting with RCCG General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who offered to pray for him.

“He stated that he follows my activities religiously, expressed certainty that my path is honorable, and said he is confident of my triumph,” Sowore wrote, noting that the encounter marked their second meeting at the location following an initial meeting in 1996 when he was mobilising against campus cultism.

Appreciating the reception, Sowore stressed that his presence was not designed to advance a political agenda. “The Church of God is ready for the revolution!” he posted, adding, “The message of hope, revolutionary justice, and national renewal continues to resonate everywhere”.

Later on Sunday evening, Sowore targeted supporters of Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi over their online reaction to his church visit and a preceding AAC rally in Lagos. Claiming that the public recognises the AAC as the genuine opposition, he contrasted the congregation’s response to his introduction with that given to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

“When Lagos APC Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, were called, the response was cold and restrained. When I was called, the revolutionary members of the church erupted in joy,” Sowore claimed.
