The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, Shettima Mohammed, has presented cheques worth over ₦24 million to families of officers who died or were injured in the line of duty.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel.
According to the statement, the sum of ₦24,321,077.31 was disbursed under the Nigeria Police Force’s Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Scheme.
Mohammed, who presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said the gesture was part of the Force’s continued commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.
“This is not just a cheque; it’s a message of remembrance and appreciation.
“Let it serve as a foundation for something meaningful, a legacy that honours the memory of our fallen heroes,” he said.
Mohammed also advised beneficiaries to manage the funds wisely and channel them into ventures that would provide long-term support for their families.
