President Bola Tinubu has formally constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council to lead the ruling party’s bid in the January 2027 general election.
Former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari has been appointed Director-General of the council, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serving as Secretary. The lineup was confirmed on Saturday morning via an official statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The media operations will be headed by Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication, assisted by Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
They will oversee coordinating deputy directors Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala, and Felix Morka, alongside coordinating secretaries Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Temitope Ajayi, Aderonke Arabirin, and Frederick Nwabufo. Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media with Solomon Arowolo as Secretary, supported by a five-member spokesperson panel led by Alake alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.
The campaign’s operational machinery features Senator Adams Oshiomhole as Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation and Presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila handling administration. Returning to oversee election planning, coordination, and monitoring is James Faleke, who held a similar role in the 2022/2023 cycle. Faleke will coordinate with regional zonal directors: Senator Olushola Adeyeye (South-West), Dr Ngozi Olejeme (South-South), Senator Uche Ekwunife (South-East), Muntaqha Rabe (North-West), Ahmed Muhammed Ketso (North-Central), and Senator Sani Danladi (North-East). Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Garba Ramat, and Audu Maikori will act as directorate secretaries, while Muiz Banire, SAN, leads the legal directorate alongside deputies Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala.
President Tinubu anchors the council as Chairman, flanked by Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice-Chairman I and APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as Vice-Chairman II. Senator Ajibola Basiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman take on roles as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary. An advisory committee comprising political heavyweights Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa will directly counsel the President.
Zonal campaign efforts in the South and North will be spearheaded by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as deputy director-generals, working in tandem with Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau.
Tinubu directed campaign directors to integrate party members outside the formal list to ensure a unified front.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu asserted in the official release. “We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”
He urged the campaign hierarchy to proudly promote the administration’s achievements across every corner of the nation and “soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”
