The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has published confirmed host nations and dates across its 2026–27 tournament schedule, highlighting “significant progress in strengthening its Competitions calendar” to deliver stability for member associations, commercial partners, and fans.
Youth football and specialised formats feature heavily across the upcoming cycle. Ghana is set to host the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in early 2027, followed by Morocco hosting the U-17 tournament later that spring. Egypt will stage the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which functions as the official qualifying pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Elsewhere, Morocco will host the Futsal tournament in October 2026, while Senegal will welcome the Beach Soccer event the following month. CAF is also currently evaluating plans for a new U-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, aiming for a potential launch next year if organisational metrics are met.
At senior international level, the flagship 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, is scheduled to run from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with qualifiers commencing in September 2026. Looking ahead, CAF’s Executive Committee has also advanced discussions on the format for a proposed African Nations League.
Club competitions are set to resume promptly. Draws for the preliminary rounds of both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup have been completed, with first-leg matches kicking off in early September. Meanwhile, South Africa will host the CAF Super Cup in Tshwane on 8 November 2026, featuring Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns against Confederation Cup holders USM Alger.
According to CAF, establishing concrete dates and host venues forms a critical step toward “creating a more stable and predictable African football calendar”, granting teams better structural planning while offering broadcasters and sponsors improved visibility for major events.
