The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed another batch of bills seeking to amend the 1999 constitution (as amended), totalling 42 for second reading.
According to BusinessDay, the House had on Tuesday passed 39 bills aimed at judicial and electoral reforms, inclusive governance, legislative reforms, and other areas.
During Wednesday’s plenary, the House approved eight bills on devolution of powers, eight on strengthening institutions, four on the creation of new states, one on traditional institutions, three on citizenship, four on fundamental rights, and 14 on local government.
Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker, who presided over the session, referred the bills to the Committee on Constitutional Amendment for further legislative action.
