Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has urged Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for peace in the state and across the country as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
Lawal made the call in a congratulatory message to the Muslim Ummah on the completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast.
The message was contained in a statement issued by his media aide, Sulaiman Idris, on Thursday in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the governor, Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period devoted to fasting, prayer and spiritual reflection.
“I congratulate the Muslim faithful in Zamfara and Nigeria as we conclude the 30-day Ramadan fast, marking this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast.
“Eid-el-Fitr is a joyous occasion, representing gratitude, unity and renewal. It is a moment to intensify our prayers for peace in our beloved state and throughout the nation.
“The 30-day fast aims to instil patience, self-discipline, empathy, spiritual mindfulness and a deeper connection with God.
“To improve Zamfara and Nigeria for everyone, we must unite. We have a collective responsibility to be our brothers’ keepers and work towards a better future,” Lawal said.
He prayed for a peaceful Eid celebration and expressed hope for good health, peace and economic prosperity in the years ahead.
Similarly, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, called on Muslims to promote peaceful coexistence and unity at all times.
Mutfwang made the call in a message commemorating the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere, on Friday in Jos.
He described Eid-el-Fitr as a significant milestone that reinforces faith, sacrifice and submission to the will of God, while commending the Muslim Ummah for their devotion during Ramadan.
“I heartily rejoice with the Muslim Ummah on this special occasion, which reminds us of the virtues of sacrifice and total submission to the will of the Almighty.
“As you celebrate, reflect on the values of love, charity and selflessness, and work collectively towards building a more united, peaceful and prosperous Plateau and Nigeria.
“I appeal that we sustain the values of peace, tolerance and unity; these virtues define the essence of Ramadan,” he said.
The governor also urged Muslims to pray for divine guidance and wisdom for leaders at all levels to ensure responsive governance.
Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, safety of lives and property, improved welfare and sustainable development.
He further called on residents, regardless of religion or ethnicity, to remain law-abiding and support government policies aimed at economic growth and development.
