Former NLC President Kidnapped in Kaduna

Mr. Takai Shamang, a former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has been abducted in his hometown of Biniki, located in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Shamang, 78, also served as President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, now known as the National Union of Electricity Employees, from 1982 to 1989.

Confirming the incident to the newsmen, his daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, reported that her father was kidnapped from his residence in Biniki around 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Shamang is the President and Founder of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation, commonly referred to as GAWON Foundation.
