The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has urged petroleum users to avoid panic buying in this yuletide season, noting that petroleum depots were wet with products.

According to The PUNCH, the Coordinator of NMDPRA in Delta State, Mr Victor Ohwodiasa, while advising on Friday during a media chat in Warri, maintained that “there is sufficient product that will last beyond the festive period.”

“There is no cause for panic buying,” he reiterated.

Ohwodiasa stated that “the Federal Government is doing everything practically possible to sustain the availability of petroleum products especially in this yuletide season.”

He said, “There is no need for panic buying because all the depots are wet with products ranging from Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO) and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK).”

The NMDPRA coordinator advised motorists not to stock fuel in the boot of their vehicles while travelling to avoid possible fire disasters.

He also urged people not to store fuel at home, noting that they are highly inflammable products.
