Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his administration will lawfully resist all forms of provocation and intimidation ahead of the state’s gubernatorial election on 15 August.
Speaking via a series of posts on his X account on Thursday following a campaign rally in the Ayedaade Local Government Area, Adeleke praised the resilience of his supporters in the face of escalating political tensions.
“Yesterday in Ayedaade, our campaign team was welcomed by a massive crowd of party members and supporters,” Adeleke posted.
“Our people continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience in the face of repeated provocations. Let me state it clearly once again: we will resist, through lawful and democratic means, any attempt to undermine the will of the great people of Osun State. We will not bow to intimidation, regardless of where it comes from.”
The governor defended his administration’s track record, maintaining that prudent financial management and public infrastructure projects remain the defining features of his tenure.
“Our record in government speaks for itself. Across every sector, our achievements are visible, measurable and widely acknowledged,” he wrote, adding that his government has elevated governance through “people-centred policies, prudent management of public resources and the delivery of impactful projects that continue to improve lives.”
The governor’s comments follow a high-stakes standoff between Osogbo and federal authorities after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) directed First Bank on Wednesday to place a restriction order on the state’s statutory allocation account amid an ongoing financial investigation.
In response, the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, denied any financial impropriety, accusing the anti-graft agency of acting on the instructions of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to disrupt worker palliative payments.
With the 15 August poll fast approaching, Adeleke urged his followers to maintain calm and focus on protecting their franchise through the ballot box.
“As we move closer to the election, I urge our supporters to remain peaceful, vigilant, and focused,” Adeleke concluded. “The greatest response to intimidation is unity, discipline and an overwhelming turnout at the polls. Together, by the grace of God, we will protect our mandate and continue building a greater Osun for all.”
