Eko, Port Harcourt, and Benin electricity distribution companies emerged as the top commercial performers in July 2026, recording recovery efficiency levels of 94.67 per cent, 84.95 per cent, and 79.15 per cent respectively.
The figures were disclosed in the July 2026 Factsheet published on 24 September by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). Designed to update stakeholders on the commercial health and operational efficiency of electricity distribution companies across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, the document revealed an overall industry revenue recovery rate of 74.91 per cent.
In terms of cash collection, distribution utilities retrieved ₦205.53 billion in revenue during the period, achieving a 81.95 per cent collection efficiency rate. The regulator confirmed that this performance yielded a total collection of ₦205.53 billion for the month.
However, significant shortfalls persist in billing practices. DisCos received energy valued at ₦333.94 billion in July but issued bills for only ₦250.79 billion, creating an unbilled deficit of approximately ₦83.15 billion. This represented a national billing efficiency rate of 75.10 per cent.
