Enugu Air has issued an apology to affected passengers following a runway excursion involving one of its aircraft at Benin Airport on Thursday.
The state-owned airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members safely disembarked without any injuries or casualties after one of its newly acquired Embraer regional jets veered off the runway upon landing.
Addressing the incident in a statement published on X, the carrier clarified that the plane was immediately secured, relevant aviation regulators were alerted, and a full assessment into the cause is currently underway.
Social media footage had previously circulated showing the regional jet off the tarmac, sparking speculation of a crash landing. However, Enugu Air firmly dismissed those claims, confirming that the occurrence was strictly a runway excursion.
Warning travelers of potential operational disruptions, the airline stated:
“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.”
