Husband of ex-finance minister Kemi Adeosun dies at 62

Mr Anthony Adeniyi “Niyi” Adeosun, a prominent businessman and husband of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has passed away at the age of 62.

His death was formally confirmed in a statement released on Thursday on behalf of the family by Rev. C. A. Adeosun. The family disclosed that the respected entrepreneur died in Lagos State on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.

Surviving him are his wife, Kemi, alongside his children and siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, the founder of Kuramo Capital.

The family described him as a devoted Christian and paid tribute to his character and legacy of service.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos. He was 62 years old.”

The statement noted that he lived a life characterised by diligence, devotion to God, and dedication to both his community and relatives. Drawing comfort from Biblical scripture during their time of grief, the family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of condolences, prayers, and support, adding that funeral and burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
