The family of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, have issued a desperate public appeal for help, disclosing that the 66-year-old film star is battling stage-four cancer and that hospitals are refusing to continue his treatment.
In emotional videos posted on Instagram, Hassan’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, pleaded for medical experts or specialised facilities willing to accept their father’s case. The sisters stressed that their appeal is strictly for medical intervention rather than financial aid.
“The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again, like they can’t give him chemo again,” Kira stated, explaining that doctors have halted further chemotherapy. She added that her father, who is experiencing severe pain, is terrified for his life. “He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before,” she said.
Kira expressed gratitude to Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) for assisting the family with medical bills, but urged anyone capable of offering alternative care, whether conventional medical treatment or herbal therapy, to contact them directly. “Please, please, if you can treat my daddy, please send me a DM,” she pleaded.
Her sister, Lima, revealed that the family only discovered the severity of the illness three weeks ago, as his physical appearance had not previously indicated how critically unwell he was.
“And the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, please, give this man a chance,” Lima urged. “We’re willing to try anything. We’re not here to ask for money… Please, I can’t watch my daddy die. I can’t. I can’t. Please”.
Lima also expressed appreciation for a relative who had stepped in to assist the family during the medical crisis.
Hassan boasts a career in the Nigerian film industry spanning over four decades, establishing him as one of the country’s most celebrated Nollywood screen veterans..
