The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Wednesday condemned the destruction of property at the Kano State Printing Press by hoodlums during the nationwide protests in the state.
Emir Sanusi made this statement after inspecting the affected sites, including the NCC Digital Centre, to assess the extent of the damage caused by the hoodlums.
He strongly denounced the acts of vandalism, stating, “The mission of these disgruntled elements is to destroy Kano, but by Allah’s grace, they will not succeed.”
The Emir emphasized the need for proactive measures to safeguard lives and property, especially when credible security threats are identified.
Sanusi expressed confidence that Kano State would overcome these challenges and emerge stronger for continued growth. He called for a thorough investigation into the incident, asserting that certain individuals were determined to bring harm to Kano.
He also alleged that the youths involved in the attacks were recruited by enemies of the state to act against the city’s interests.
Highlighting the historical significance of the Kano State Printing Press, which was established in 1933, the Emir noted his family’s connection to the institution. He urged the youth of Kano to be vigilant against those who wish to harm the state and to recognize their true adversaries.
The Emir’s visit to the destroyed NCC Digital Centre and his condemnation of the violence underscored his commitment to peace and stability in Kano State. His determination to support the state’s recovery from the recent unrest was evident throughout his remarks.
