The police in Lagos says it has detained a man for allegedly killing his neighbour and her son over an environmental sanitation dispute in the Lekki area of the state.

The command spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Monday in Lagos.

He said the incident happened on Sunday, and that investigation was ongoing to ascertain how the suspect (names withheld) perpetrated the crime.

He said that on September 15, about 10:50 pm, an information was received at the Elemoro division that the suspect allegedly killed one Gloria, who was his neighbour and her son, over an argument on cleaning of the environment.

The command spokesman alleged that the suspect put their dead bodies in a big sack to dispose of the bodies.

He said that luck was against him, when other neighbours informed the police at Elemoro division of the incident.

ā€œImmediately detectives of the division rushed to the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the bodies,ā€ Mr Hundeyin said.

The Lagos police spokesman said the bodies had been deposited at the Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy, with detectives continuing with the investigation.
