The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth Wing has congratulated Bianca Odimegwu-Ojukwu on her recent nomination as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

In a statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Chika Adiele, and made available to the press, the youth wing, led by National Leader, Chukwuma Opkalaezeukwu, described Mrs Ojukwu’s nomination as well-deserved.

Mr Adiele hailed Ojukwu as “a woman of many firsts,” praising her as a symbol of excellence, selflessness, and a dedicated public servant.

“Ambassador Bianca is not only a lawyer and businesswoman but also a former beauty queen, holding titles such as Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Miss Africa, and Miss Intercontinental,” the statement read.

Mrs Ojukwu is the widow of former Biafra leader Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.

Prior to this nomination, the former beauty queen served in significant diplomatic roles, including as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and later as the country’s Ambassador to Spain in 2012.

The youth wing emphasized that Mrs Ojukwu has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to national service, earning her respect as a “venerable and noble woman” who brings passion to her roles.

In addition to the congratulatory message, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing urged President Bola Tinubu to expedite action on convening a National Youth Conference.

The group highlighted the importance of establishing a framework to address youth issues.

It stated that such a conference would enable the president to focus on broader nation-building efforts.

“We believe Mr President, as a father of the nation, will heed our call to set up a robust template for the National Youth Confab,” the group said.
