The Delta State Government has commenced the distribution of 940 bags of rice and 150 bags of garri as palliatives to residents of Oshimili South Local Government Area (LGA).

The distribution, supervised by Mrs. Bridget Anyafulu, member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Oshimili South, took place at the council secretariat in Asaba. The food items, each weighing 25 kilograms, are intended for vulnerable residents across the 11 wards of the LGA.

Anyafulu stressed the importance of transparency in the distribution process, urging ward coordinators to ensure that the items reach those in genuine need.

“Take these food items to your various wards, distribute them transparently, and let the people see our commitment to serving them. Our integrity should speak for itself,” Anyafulu emphasized during the distribution.

She also highlighted the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the distribution process, emphasizing their rightful participation in community initiatives.

Acknowledging the government’s efforts to address the food crisis, Anyafulu noted that the distribution committee comprised representatives from various sectors to ensure fairness and transparency.

In response, Mr. Emordi Obiora, representing Ward 1 in Oko Community, expressed gratitude on behalf of the ward leaders, assuring that the items would be distributed equitably to the intended beneficiaries.

The initiative underscores Delta State’s commitment to alleviating hardship and supporting vulnerable communities amidst ongoing challenges.
