The Edo State House of Assembly has been plunged into a fresh leadership crisis following the resignation of its Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, on Monday.
Agbebaku’s decision to step down came as several lawmakers were actively mounting an effort to impeach him.
His media aide, Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, confirmed the exit on Facebook: “EDO ASSEMBLY SPEAKER RT HON CHIEF BLESSING AGBEBAKU RESIGNS”.
She added that further details regarding the circumstances of his departure would be released in due course. Attention now turns to the House of Assembly, where members are set to decide on a new Speaker to lead the legislature.
