Osun will host the elimination stage competition of the 2024 National Youth Games (NYG), according to Funmilayo Moradeyo, the State Sports Council’s Public Relations Officer (PRO).
Moradeyo announced on Monday in Osogbo that the state will be the venue for team sports competitions among the six states in the South-West zone: Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, and Lagos.
“The athletes will compete in football, volleyball, basketball, handball, hockey, and cricket from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14,” she said.
Moradeyo explained that the elimination competition aims to select athletes to represent the South-West zone in ball games at the NYG, which is scheduled for September in Delta.
She added that the state’s deputy governor, Mr. Kola Adewusi, who also serves as the Commissioner for Sports, will be the competition’s chief host.
