The Nigerian women’s Olympic basketball team, D’Tigress, has drawn against the USA in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Under the leadership of Coach Rena Wakama, D’Tigress secured Nigeria’s first-ever spot in the last eight of the Olympic basketball tournament by defeating Canada 79-70 in their final group game on Sunday.
The women’s basketball team will face the defending champions, the USA, on August 7, 2024, by 9:30 pm. This match marks the second Olympic encounter between the two teams.
At the Tokyo Olympics, D’Tigress lost to the Americans by nine points in their opening group game. The teams also faced off in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, where Nigeria suffered a significant defeat.
D’Tigress will aim to make history again by advancing to the semifinals.
