The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has released the names and images of the seven inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun state.
Reports show that the inmates escaped from the correctional facility on Tuesday morning following the collapse of the centre after a heavy rainfall.
As a result, NCoS offered a ₦5 million reward for anyone with useful information that would lead to the recapture of the fleeing suspects in a statement it issued on Wednesday.
“In order to encourage public participation, the Nigerian Correctional Service wishes to inform the general public that we are offering a cash reward of N5 million to anyone who provides useful information that leads to the recapture of the fleeing inmates from the Medium Custodial Centre, Ilesha, Osun state,” the statement reads.
“The service urges members of the public to report any information they may have regarding the whereabouts of the inmates at large to the nearest security agencies.
“We will treat all information with utmost confidentiality and anonymity.”
BusinessDay reports that the service identified the escaped inmates as John Michael (34), Tobi Akin (19), Eze Nweze (40), Ninalowo Yusuf (28), Matthew Ogunjimi (20), Kabiru Oyedun (39), and Olalekan Ajofoyinbo (45).
Based on the information the NCoS published on its website, courts charged Michael, Ajofoyinbo, and Nweze with armed robbery, whilst they charged Akin and Ogunjimi with illegal possession of firearms and armed robbery.
Courts charged Oyedun with murder, whilst they charged Yusuf with “breaking and stealing.”
