Traditional leaders in Kemta, Ogun State, have publicly confirmed the ancestral roots of Senator Solomon Adeola, affirming that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for 2027 is a genuine indigene of Egbaland through his maternal lineage in Kemta.

Led by Chief Abayomi Rotimi, the Oluwo of Kemta and Baaye of Egbaland, the traditional council dismissed online reports alleging that the Ile Ogboni of Kemta had been locked due to political disputes surrounding Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

Addressing reporters at the palace premises on Monday, Chief Rotimi denounced the claims as politically motivated fabrications and warned against bringing partisan politics into traditional affairs.

While refuting rumours of his own suspension, Chief Rotimi noted that his ongoing official duties alongside the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, directly contradicted such claims. “If I am suspended, the Alake is the paramount ruler of Egbaland.

He should know about it,” Rotimi said, noting that any disciplinary action would require formal proceedings by the paramount ruler or community elders. He further cautioned against the use of manipulated images and artificial intelligence to spread false reports about the traditional institution.

Similarly, Chief Aregbesola Anipupo, the Baale of Kemta Odutolu, refuted claims of local unrest and rejected accusations that community elders supported Adeola out of financial interest. Anipupo clarified that their backing stems strictly from long-standing kinship, stating that elders support him “purely because we know he is our child.”

The ancestral debate surrounding Adeola has resurfaced periodically since 2018, amplified by political opponents citing his long-standing legislative career in Lagos. While critics have questioned his territorial identity, supporters and traditional authorities maintain that the senator holds dual roots, tracing his paternal heritage to Ago-Ishaga/Pahayi in Ilaro (Yewa) and his maternal heritage to Kemta in Egbaland.
