As the Paris Paralympic Games approach, only half of the available tickets have been sold, with just 18 days left before the event begins.
The Olympic Games are set to conclude on Sunday, after which organizers will need a brief period to adapt venues for the Paralympics, which will run from August 28 to September 8.
Tony Estanguet, chief of Paris 2024, expressed satisfaction with the current sales figures despite the slower-than-expected pace. He noted that the rate of ticket sales for the Paralympics has increased fivefold compared to the beginning of the Olympic Games.
To date, over three million tickets have been sold for the Paralympics. Estanguet also highlighted that the Olympics have achieved record-breaking ticket sales, with 9.5 million out of approximately 10 million tickets sold, marking the highest number in Olympic history.
The Olympics also saw record attendance for women’s team sports, with over 66,000 spectators at rugby sevens matches in Stade de France and 27,000 fans attending basketball games in Lille.
