The Katsina State Government has announced a further relaxation of the curfew previously in place, which had restricted movement from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new curfew hours will now be from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. across the state.

This adjustment was made known in a statement issued by Mr. Abdullahi Aliyu-Yar’adua, Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, on Saturday in Katsina.

“The Secretary to the Government of the State, Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, conveyed that the acting Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal-Jobe, was satisfied with reports indicating an improvement in the security situation across the state. As a result, he has ordered an immediate review of the curfew,” the statement read.

Aliyu-Yar’adua added that the acting governor expressed his appreciation for the conduct of security personnel and the cooperation of the public during the period when the curfew was more stringent.

Lawal-Jobe also urged residents to continue being law-abiding as they go about their daily activities.
