Nigerian striker Victor Boniface opened his Bundesliga goal account for the 2024/25 season in style, netting twice in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 triumph over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Mr Boniface delivered a Man of the Match performance, scoring two goals and providing an assist to lead his team to their second win of the season.

This victory comes on the heels of a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig in their previous match.

The 23-year-old, who had not registered a goal or assist in his first two appearances, made an immediate impact by assisting Martin Terrier’s opening goal in the 17th minute.

Mr Boniface then scored his first of the season in the 30th minute, converting a pass from Granit Xhaka.

Leverkusen’s dominant display saw them comfortably secure the win and continue their strong start to the Bundesliga campaign.

During the match, Mr Boniface’s Super Eagles teammates, Nathan Tella and Kevin Akpoguma, also made appearances. Akpoguma played the entire 90 minutes for Hoffenheim but received a yellow card in the 91st minute.

Meanwhile, Mr Tella, who started for Leverkusen, was substituted by Jeremie Frimpong in the 57th minute.
