President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have joined other Nigerians to extend their condolences to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom on the death of his wife, Mrs Patience Eno.
On behalf of the federal government, president Tinubu commiserated with the Eno family, the government, and the people of Akwa Ibom state.
In a statement by Mr Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the president said that Mrs Eno, through her ‘Golden Initiative for All,’ demonstrated her passion for serving the people and residents of Akwa Ibom.
He added that he was committing the grieving family, friends, and relatives “to the comfort of the eternal God, who is the source of life and holds the future of all creation in his hands.”
On his part, the Lagos governor said he was extending his “condolences to the people of Akwa Ibom State and the entire Eno family, as well as wives of all the state governors in Nigeria over her demise.”
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, the Lagos governor urged his Akwa Ibom counterpart to seek solace in God and be comforted by the fact that his wife lived a fulfilled life and made positive impacts.
“I pray that the Almighty will grant the deceased eternal rest and give Gov. Umo Eno, the entire family, and the people of Akwa Ibom the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Mr Sanwo-Olu added.
The late Mrs Eno died on Thursday during a brief illness in a hospital in the presence of her family members. She was aged 57.
