Nigerian Army commander supports widows of fallen heroes

The Commander of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army in Katsina, Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola, has provided financial and food assistance to 16 widows of fallen soldiers at Natsinta Cantonment.

This gesture was extended to the widows on Saturday, October 5, 2024, during a durbar at the 17 Brigade Joint Officers’ Mess Natsinta Cantonment, in Katsina.

It was aimed at offering essential relief to the families of deceased heroes as they navigated life’s challenges.

Mr Omopariola emphasised the significance of honouring the memory of those who served, stating, “There is nothing that can compensate for the loss of your loved ones, who sacrificed their lives for this great nation and humanity.”

He underscored the importance of supporting these families, acknowledging the immense burden they bear.

The commander encouraged the widows to remain resilient while emphasising their capacity to overcome adversity and build meaningful lives.

“This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the living standards of troops and their families within the cantonment.

Awa Mohammed-Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Omopariola for his kindness and for honouring their departed heroes.

She noted that the provisions would alleviate their struggles and inspire them to face life’s challenges with renewed strength.
