Former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, has put an end to rumours regarding a potential presidential run, declaring that he has no interest in seeking Nigeria’s highest office.
Appearing on TVC’s live broadcast on Wednesday, the former minister firmly rejected speculation about his political future. When directly asked if he had eyes on the nation’s top job, Fashola offered a simple, definitive “No.” Pressed further on whether he would consider leading the country, he laughed off the suggestion.
“President of what? I’m president at home,” he quipped.
Looking back on a public service career spanning over two decades, Fashola expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, stating he would leave his legacy to history. He described his political career as an “unimaginable privilege” and expressed hope that his trajectory would inspire the next generation to believe in the country’s potential.
