Yoruba advocate Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has extended his deepest appreciation to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, after receiving a ₦100 million grant and a new Hilux operational vehicle for the Iru Ekun Security Network.
Igboho led members of the community-based security outfit to the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife on Tuesday to brief the traditional ruler on their operations, seek royal blessings, and request continued guidance in safeguarding regional communities.
Paying tribute to the monarch during the visit, Igboho described the Ooni as “the father of all Yoruba people worldwide” and “God’s gift to our race.” He emphasised that the monarch’s “love for the Yoruba nation, humility and kindness distinguish him among traditional rulers.”
Igboho expressed gratitude for the Ooni’s endorsement, noting that the monarch’s support reinforces their shared mission of protecting lives and maintaining regional peace. The Ooni praised Igboho for “taking a bold step towards strengthening community security,” urging all Yoruba stakeholders to unite, as “our strength lies in our unity.”
In light of the monarch’s support, Igboho announced plans to organise a major security summit bringing together traditional rulers from across Yorubaland. Subject to royal approval, the initiative is expected to take place at the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife to chart practical, long-term solutions to insecurity across the region.
