The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
Announcing the development on Wednesday via its official X account, the examination body informed candidates that the “2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released,” directing them to generate a PIN at waec.org and access their grades via waecdirect.org.
Out of the 1,950,726 students who sat the examination, 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, achieved credit passes or higher in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The examination ran from 21 April to 19 June 2026, involving roughly 1.96 million candidates across more than 24,200 secondary schools nationwide. While the majority of centres maintained the standard pen-and-paper format, a substantially higher number of institutions selected the computer-based testing (CBT) alternative compared to previous cohorts.
To access their performance, candidates must create a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and serial number on the council’s main portal. The procedure requires entering the examination number and National Identification Number (NIN) supplied during registration, alongside contact information for one-time password (OTP) verification.
The release aligns with WAEC’s earlier projection that results would be available approximately 45 days after the final examination paper. The announcement follows the council’s earlier publication of results for the 2026 First Series CBT WASSCE for Private Candidates.
